In more than one instance the option indicated by Mirus’ analysis was not the one which would have led to the largest fee, but it was always the one which was demonstrated to be in the best long-term interests of the company’s shareholders.

Mirus Capital Advisors Earns Strong Rankings in 18-Month Study of Tech M&A Banking Activity
08/31/2006 - Boston, Massachusetts
Mirus Capital Advisors, a middle market investment bank, earned strong marks in the “Tech M&A Banking Review 2006” released today by The 451 Group, a New York-based technology industry analyst company focused on the business of enterprise IT innovation. The study looked at more than 180 investment banks that advised technology M&A transactions over the 18-month period that ended June 30, 2006.
In the Hosted Services Sector, Mirus was ranked 3rd among top middle market dealmakers leading as advisors for deals below $100 million. The firm was 7th among the top dealmakers as ranked by the number of deals in the Internet Sector. Mirus closed four deals for Internet companies during the 18-month period under review. On the top 20 list of dealmakers for IT deals valued up to $100 million, Mirus came in at the 19th position based on transaction volume.
“These rankings show our strength in the middle market arena and more specifically in software, information technology and business services industry sectors,” said Elliot Williams, president of Mirus Capital Advisors. “Overall, the report shows the strong surge in M&A activity over the past year and a half. According to the report, M&A spending for U.S. technology and communications targets jumped 70% to $365 billion for the 18 months ended June 30, as compared to the previous 18 months. That activity has definitely been reflected at our firm, through increased deal-flow that enabled us to earn high rankings in the Internet and Hosted Services sectors.”
According to The 451 Group, the “league tables” in their report provide a practical tool to help executives, board members, VCs and attorneys identify appropriate sector-experienced bankers for their buy-side or sell-side M&A engagements. The report draws upon data in a transaction database that tracks deal advisory activity for more than 300 technology-industry sectors and sub-sectors.
